About this page

Some regions require specific disclosures in addition to our Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Dating Safety Policy. Those disclosures are collected here. Where a section conflicts with our general policies, the section below governs for members in that region.

Colorado: online dating safety

This section is provided for members in Colorado in connection with the Colorado Online Dating Services Safety Act.

Our safety policy. BeyondSwipe prohibits, and acts on, conduct that threatens the safety of members or the public. The prohibited content and conduct are set out in full in our Community Guidelines, and include impersonation and fake profiles, harassment and threats, sexual harassment and non-consensual intimate imagery, fraud and financial exploitation, commercial sexual services, human exploitation and trafficking, hate and violent extremism, and any sexual content involving a minor.

Identity verification. Every member must verify their identity against a government-issued document with a live biometric selfie match before they can interact with anyone. See How verification works.

Fraud ban notifications. Where we ban a member for conduct involving fraud, we notify members who exchanged messages with that account. The notification identifies the banned account and the most recent date of contact, states that the account may have been using a false identity or attempting to defraud, warns against sending money or financial information, and links to fraud-reporting resources.

Reporting and response. Members can report any profile or conversation in-product, or email safety@beyondswipe.app. Reports are confidential and reviewed by our team, and may result in warnings, feature restrictions, suspension, permanent removal, and referral to law enforcement.

Safety awareness. Our Dating Safety and Anti-Scam Policy sets out romance-fraud warning signs, guidance on meeting safely, and the rule that you should never send money to someone you have met online.

Quebec: privacy under Law 25

This section applies to members in Quebec and supplements our Privacy Policy.

  • Person in charge of privacy. Our Privacy Officer is responsible for the protection of personal information and can be reached at privacy@beyondswipe.app.
  • Biometric processing. Identity verification uses biometric information, which is sensitive personal information requiring your express consent. We obtain that consent separately and in advance. Full detail is in our Biometric Data Policy. Where required, the Commission d'accès à l'information is notified of the biometric system before it is placed in service.
  • Automated decisions. The verification decision is made by automated means. If verification is refused, you may ask for the reasons, submit observations, and request review by a person. Write to support@beyondswipe.app.
  • Privacy by default. Account settings that affect visibility are set to the most privacy-protective option by default.
  • Outside Quebec. Personal information is processed by service providers located outside Quebec, including in the United States, and may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
  • Your rights. You may request access, correction, deletion, portability, or the withdrawal of consent, and we respond within 30 days. Complaints may be directed to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Illinois: biometric information

This section applies to members in Illinois in connection with the Biometric Information Privacy Act, and supplements our Biometric Data Policy.

  • Written notice. Before any capture, we tell you in writing that biometric identifiers and biometric information will be collected and stored, the specific purpose for which they are collected, and the length of term for which they will be stored.
  • Written release. We proceed only after you provide affirmative consent, which we record with a timestamp.
  • Purpose. Confirming that you are the person shown on the government-issued document you present. Nothing else.
  • Retention and destruction schedule. BeyondSwipe never receives or possesses biometric identifiers. Stripe, our verification provider, destroys them on redaction, which we trigger immediately upon a successful result, and in no event retains them longer than one year or beyond the withdrawal of consent. The full schedule is published in our Biometric Data Policy.
  • No sale or profit. We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from biometric identifiers or biometric information, and we do not disclose them.

EEA and United Kingdom

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal basis for processing account and profile data is the performance of our contract with you, and our legal basis for processing biometric data during verification is your explicit consent. You may withdraw consent at any time, although verification cannot be completed without it. You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. Transfers outside the EEA and UK are made under Standard Contractual Clauses. Contact privacy@beyondswipe.app.

California

Government identifiers and biometric information are treated as sensitive personal information. We use them solely to perform identity verification, which is a permitted business purpose, and we do not use them to infer characteristics. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals. You may request access, correction, or deletion, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
