It also does something quieter but more important: it puts a hard cost on every single account, which is what makes running fake profiles at scale uneconomic. Scam operations depend on creating accounts for free.

Your ID and selfie are captured by Stripe and sent directly to Stripe. They never touch BeyondSwipe's servers. We ask Stripe for exactly one detail it reads off your document: the date of birth, which we check to confirm you are 18 or older and then discard without storing it. We never receive your legal name or document number. Beyond that check, all we get back is a single pass or fail. Once you pass, our system tells Stripe to permanently delete your document and selfie, so no one at BeyondSwipe can look them up later. Stripe keeps biometric data no longer than a year.

Most apps ask you to copy a pose or record a selfie video, then compare it to your own profile photos. That only proves your photos are really of you. It proves nothing about who you actually are: someone can pass it using their real face while their name, age, and entire backstory are invented. We check a genuine government document and biometrically match your live selfie to the photo on it. That verifies a real, state-issued identity, confirms your age from the document rather than a self-declared birthday, and means a banned member can't just sign up again with a new email.

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Verification proves someone is a real person using their real identity. It is not a criminal background check, and it says nothing about their character or intentions. What it does is remove anonymity and make people accountable for how they behave.
