Delete your account

You can delete your BeyondSwipe account at any time. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

From inside the app

Open BeyondSwipe, go to Profile, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. You will be asked to confirm. Your BeyondSwipe data is removed immediately. The records held by our verification provider are requested at the same moment and retried until that provider confirms, which is described below.

If you cannot sign in

Email privacy@beyondswipe.app from the address on your account and ask for deletion. We will verify it belongs to you and confirm within 30 days, usually far sooner. You do not need the app installed.

Deleting some of your data, without closing your account

You do not have to choose between keeping your account and removing something from it. In the app you can delete individual photos and your video intro from Edit profile, and change or clear your bio, prompts and interests at any time. Photos, your video intro and your voice prompt are deleted when you remove them, not hidden.

Unsending is not the same thing. When you unsend a message, the text stops being visible to both of you straight away, and any voice note is moved out of the shared storage it was delivered from, usually within moments and always as soon as that step completes. We keep a copy that neither of you can read for 30 days, so that a report made about it has something to point to, and then we delete that copy too. We keep it longer only while a report about that message is open, or where a documented legal hold requires it.

For anything else, email privacy@beyondswipe.app and tell us what you want removed. We will verify the request comes from the account holder and reply within 30 days. Your account stays open and you keep your matches and conversations.

What is deleted

  • Your profile: name, age, city, bio, prompts and dating intention
  • Every photo and video you uploaded
  • Your profile voice note and any voice messages you recorded
  • Your messages, conversations and reactions
  • Your matches, connections and passes
  • Your interests and compatibility scores
  • Your notification settings and push tokens
  • Your login credentials

What is kept, and why

A small amount of data outlives the account, in every case because the law requires it or because deleting it would harm someone else.

Payment records

Financial records have to be retained for tax and accounting purposes. Apple and Google hold the transaction itself. BeyondSwipe keeps the amount, the date and the store transaction number, with the link to your account removed. That number is not your name, but Apple, Google or our support records could still connect it to you, so we do not describe what is left as anonymous.

Safety reports made about you

Reports from other members are kept so that somebody removed for harming others cannot erase the record by deleting their account. The report keeps an account reference that is a random identifier rather than your name, so a second report about the same person can still be recognised. That identifier is not anonymous: our support records could still connect it to you. Once a report is closed, its evidence is deleted on a set schedule unless a documented legal hold applies.

Messages you sent to other people

Your copy is deleted. Where a message forms part of an open safety report, a copy that neither member can read is kept with that report until it is resolved, and deleted on a set schedule afterwards unless a documented legal hold applies.

Your identity documents

Your government ID and selfie went directly to Didit and never reached BeyondSwipe. We instruct Didit to destroy them when verification resolves, whether it passes or fails. We retain the session reference, outcome and non-identifying warning codes needed to explain a refusal, but never the document, selfie, or date extracted from the document.

Didit also holds a separate account record, created from the reference we send with each check, which keeps that reference and details such as a name and date of birth read from your document. Deleting a verification session does not remove it, so when you delete your BeyondSwipe account we ask Didit to delete your sessions and then delete that record too. If Didit cannot be reached, the outstanding request is kept and retried automatically until it confirms, and we are alerted to chase it if it does not. See the biometric policy for the full account.

If you have a subscription, cancel it first

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. BeyondSwipe+ is billed by the App Store or Google Play, not by us, and only you can stop it from your own store settings. We have no way to cancel it on your behalf, so if you delete your account without cancelling, the store will keep charging you and you will no longer have an account to cancel from.

Cancel first, from Profile, then Manage subscription, which opens the right store for whichever one is charging you. Then come back and delete. Cancelling does not remove your account, and deleting does not refund the current billing period.
